Job Description:
My job is to accelerate learning for every APS student, every day. I do my job by creating a supportive environment that encourages acceptance and understanding of Spanish language, cultural practices and perspectives. My community needs me to do my job!
Essential Learnings:
Students develop their proficiency at each grade level to communicate in Spanish. Non-heritage speakers will gain listening and comprehension skills, building into reading writing and speaking. Heritage language speakers will develop reading, writing and vocabulary.
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of other cultures. There are 21 Spanish Speaking countries and we will focus on a few each semesterJ
Coming to Class: Rituals and routines primarily focus on entering class and finding an assigned seat. Immediately upon entering class, students will focus on the day’s learning objective and what the outcomes for the day will be.
In Class:
Demonstrate SLANT protocols:
Sit up
Listen
Attention to the speaker
Nod your head to show you are participating
Track the speaker
Be a supportive Bison and have pride in your learning!
In Class Assignments: Students are expected to complete daily work, to ask questions when needed and be supportive of others.
Homework: There will not be homework in grades K-5. Students in grades 6-8 will have vocabulary words to memorize and individual projects to work on/complete at home. If students are absent in grades 6-8, they will need to do make up work to catch up with the classJ
